Feeding sourdough

If you position your mouse pointer over the bottom of the picture you can control the slide show and move through it a little bit slower. You can also click on the center of the slideshow and it will take you to picasa web albums where you can cycle through them one at a time.

  1. Great post! I feed my starter once per week and there is usually just a wee bit of hooch on it. I pour it off, divide the batch and feed both batches. I like the 1:1:1 ratio of weight, which is what you are using.

  2. Thanks Frieda! I tried to make it as easy to understand as possible. I like mine at 100% and usually weigh it, although if I am in a hurry I eyeball it too! The 1:1:1 ratio seems to work the best for me, simply because it mixes easily and grows slower than a higher percentage.

  3. Just a note, I don't always remember to feed Arold right on time, so occasionally he ends up with hooch and then I give him at least two feedings before making him into bread. He has to be showing good signs of actually growing or he won't raise my bread very well.
